Many people are Canadians of convenience. What does this mean? They see a caker passport as a means to an end: there is no real loyalty or love for the country, but they acquire and keep citizenship as a 'parachute', in case things should go awry in their preferred country.
For example, in 2006 the government spent 94 million dollars evacuating 15,000 "Canadian citizens" from war-torn Lebanon.
"In Canada, some political and taxpayer groups suggested that thousands holding dual Canadian-Lebanese citizenship and living in Lebanon should not have been eligible for the help." (CBC)
Of course to the cakers, people suggesting common-sense proposals are immediately deemed "racist" and "xenophobic". I personally have met many Lebanese COC. They go to the social services and acquire welfare or disability payments which are automatically deposited into their accounts each month (little to no oversight or questions asked). They then return to Lebanon and live there full time, only coming back for periodic visits.
For example: a payment of $800 CAD currently converts into 910906 LBP.
In Beirut: a furnished 2 bedroom apartment costs roughly $932 CAD.
If you are a COC you have: access to healthcare, safety in the event of war, and evacuations during emergencies. Regarding every day living: your monthly rent is essentially paid, enabling you to save money or pay off other bills.
When you boil it down it's a good deal for COC, costing them nothing, and it just makes sense. Due to the racism immigrants here face, it's likely they won't be able to sustain the quality of life they could elsewhere, and what incentive is there for them to stay?
This is by no means limited only to Lebanon, but a regular scam from numerous countries that are considered 'developing' or have lower valued currencies. It's the Canuck version of the same scam eastern-Europeans have been pulling in England for some time.
The rich hate the caker kingdom too
It's not only the poorer immigrants that take advantage, but the wealthy also. In 2014 a man was sentenced for helping Chinese immigrants defraud the system. Quote:
"Yet the most significant aspect of Wang’s case is neither the scale of his operation, nor its sophistication and audacity. It is the motivation of his clients.
... Wang’s case involved clients willing to pay tens of thousands of dollars to AVOID living in Canada when they were perfectly entitled to do so, having already obtained permanent resident status...
Wang’s clients wanted to be able to maintain their PR status without actually living in the Great White North, since their jobs and businesses were back in China. And by faking their presence in Canada they would eventually be able to claim Canadian citizenship, with all the privileges it confers, including the right to live in Canada – eventually.
That anyone should immigrate to Canada while regarding living there as a burdensome task to be endured or avoided might sound weird, but the concept is so common among some Chinese immigrant circles that there is a word for it: yiminjian, or “immigration jail”. The term refers to the period of compulsory Canadian residency (now, four years out of the previous six) which one must suffer before applying for citizenship. Think of a Canadian passport as the get-out-of-jail card."
And again, it's no surprise. Why would anyone choose to live in the Canada when they could make more money, have a better quality of life, and enjoy culture somewhere else? In fact, the only reason most immigrants come to Canada is for the safety-net (healthcare/ escaping war/ escaping poverty).
Many people want the citizenship without actually having to reside in Canada.
Dictatorship over the caker kingdom
Between the taxes, the cold winters, the colder people and lack of culture - Canada is a spiritual hell for many people. It's not an exaggeration when I say that many prefer to move back to third-world situations or even dictatorships than continue residing here.
According to a 20 year study conducted by Statistics Canada: one third of all immigrant men would eventually leave the country, and more than half did so within the first year! That's right, people couldn't bear the cold hell caker kingdom for even a year after fighting to get here!
Look at the Americans, for instance. During the 2016 election campaign numerous rich and famous people called Donald Trump: a demagogue, a sexual predator, an aspiring dictator, a megalomaniac, a narcissist and even a sociopath. Bold declarations were made on social media by citizens that if he were elected president they would move to Canada.
To date, not a single person has followed through on their public declarations. Which means that people would quite literally rather live under a so-called 'predatory psychopathic aspiring-dictator' in the United States than have to live in Canada. Which really says it all, doesn't it?
Canada's future: giving it up like a cheap date
And so we return to the concept of the 'convenience' of Canada. When anyone discusses moving the cakers immediately begin panicking (particularly about the USA) and offering doomsday scenarios. One of those is war. As in, if world war breaks out - don't you want to be in peaceful little Canada?
NO.
Here's why: Canada cannot defend itself. It doesn't have the army, navy or the population to do so against the three biggest "threats" - the United States, Russia and China.
Cakers are also wimps, they aren't tough like Russians. They aren't going to fight off armies like the Russians did (Tartars, Napoleonic, Nazis) and they sure as hell can't beat the Russians. They also can't beat the Chinese. And if an emergency were to happen (re: oil, water, natural resources) the Americans would simply take what they wanted in a 'soft coup' and Canada couldn't stop them.
Canada is at the mercy of the United States. Being that it is geographically located right beside the USA, naturally it's going to be protected by the US. If anyone encroaches on Canadian land (Chinese, Russians) warfare will break out, and who will be right in the middle? The caker kingdom!
So I'll happily take my chances in the USA, which is at least a global superpower with a military force capable of defending itself; it also has nuclear missiles and the theory of MAD (mutual assured destruction) which should act as a deterrent.
The takeaway:
Canada is a cold, boring, culture-less socialist hell hole. It tries to paint itself as on par with Scandinavia but cakers are nowhere close; they only have current benefits because they murdered the indigenous peoples, conned immigrants, and live beside the United States.
Canada doesn't even have the benefit of being safe. There are countless COC, and a real threat of terrorism through refugees and immigrants. In the event of war, Canada can only beg the US for protection or live under commies.
Canadians of convenience use their citizenship for free health care, and as a secondary emergency location in event of arrest, war, or natural disaster in their true homeland.
So if you are a COC, good luck to you and enjoy scamming the caker kingdom (all it's good for).
Update: Since this post was originally written, the status quo has continued. Anyone suggesting the deterrence of COC is still deemed xenophobic and publicly questioned. Apparently COC are "global assets" and we should be grateful that they desire and obtain citizenship even if they choose to never live here and it remains a purely paper exercise.
